The Beginning
Yash Chopra began his directorial jaunt in 1959 with cine cantata Dhool Ka Phool, a melodrama about illegitimacy. The movie was a production venture of his elder brother B.R. Chopra.

The Making of YRF
Post Dhool Ka Phool Yash Chopra went ahead with his directorial dreams and directed cine flicks like Dharamputra, Ittefaq and Waqt and fetched Filmfare's Best Director Award for Waqt and Ittefaq.
But just being best director wasn't enough to gratify the dreams of this cinematic maestro, who in 1979 launched his own production house YRF and made Daag, the cine flick which again fetched Best Director award for this ace director.
