Actor Idris Elba is said to have split from his longtime girlfriend Naiyana Garth.

According to a source, Elba, 43, has decided to move out of the London home that he shared with the make-up artist and their son Winston, reports dailymail.co.uk.

He has now moved into a nearby apartment to remain close to his 22-month-old child.

`They've kept it very quiet... It's very sad that this has happened while Idris is experiencing the highest points of his professional career and they can't celebrate it with each other,` The Sun newspaper quoted the source as saying.

The breakup news comes after Elba is enjoying a stellar award season, picking up the Screen Actors Guild Awards (SGAs) and the Evening Standard Film Awards for his role in `Beast of No Nation`.

Garth was noticeably absent from his side at the SGAs, where the star was accompanied by his 13-year-old daughter Isan, his child with former wife Dormowa Sherman.

Elba and Garth began dating in early 2013. News of their separation comes after Elba was spotted enjoying a night out with supermodel Naomi Campbell.
