"Grief is a Business": Sonam Bajwa's 'Pitt Siyapa' Trailer Promises a Hilarious Riot!
The "Queen of Pollywood" is back with a concept as unique as its title. Following weeks of teaser posters, the official trailer for Sonam Bajwa’s upcoming film, Pitt Siyapa, was released on Thursday, April 16, and it’s already trending across social media for its bold, quirky humor.

Blending a "funeral business" with high-octane Punjabi family drama, the film looks set to be the first major comedy blockbuster of the summer.

The Trailer: Virtual Funerals & Desi "Jugaad"

The 2-minute-45-second trailer introduces us to a world where mourning meets entrepreneurship:

The Premise: Sonam Bajwa plays Nimmi, a sharp-witted girl who turns her father’s death into a business opportunity. She starts hosting "virtual funerals" for NRIs who can’t make it back to Punjab, providing a professional team to wail, mourn, and handle the rituals.

The "Misfit" Team: The business is run by a chaotic crew of misfits, including industry veterans Karamjit Anmol and Anita Devgan (playing "Manju Madam").

The Conflict: Enter Mickey (played by Paramvir Singh Cheema), whose arrival sends Nimmi's carefully managed jugaad into an emotional and comedic tailspin.

Release Date: May 1, 2026

The makers have confirmed that the "Siyapa" will hit the big screens in just ten days:

Official Date: Friday, May 1, 2026.

Global Release: Handled by Next Film Studios, the film is eyeing a massive release across North America, the UK, and Australia to cater to the very NRI audience it parodies.

Sonam Bajwa’s "Nimmi" Avatar

Fans are particularly excited about Sonam’s return to a "grounded yet fiery" character:

The Look: Ditching the high-fashion glam for traditional Punjabi suits and a "no-nonsense" business attitude, Sonam’s portrayal of Nimmi is being compared to her iconic roles in Guddiyan Patole and Godday Godday Chaa.

The "Cheema" Factor: Following his acclaimed work in Chamkila and Tabbar, Paramvir Singh Cheema marks a significant shift to mainstream Punjabi cinema, and his chemistry with Sonam is already a highlight of the trailer comments.

SantaBanta Verdict:

Pitt Siyapa is a masterclass in original Punjabi storytelling. By taking a sensitive topic like death and wrapping it in the "jugaad" culture of Punjab, director Rupinder Chahal has created a film that feels fresh and relatable. With Sonam Bajwa leading the charge, May 1st is going to be a day of high-energy laughter and wholesome "Siyapa."
