Maharani Radhika, who belongs from a royal family of Wankaner got married to Maharaja Simarjit in the year 2002. Radhika has completed her Master's degree in Indian History and is deeply interested in the cultural heritage.
Before her marriage, she worked as a journalist for leading magazines and currently handles digitalisation of the assets of Lakshmi Vilas Palace. Radhika remains in talks for her elegance, and the way Maharani carries herself is just full of grace. She has also been featured as 'The Modern Maharani' by The Millionaireasia magazine.
The royal Gaekwad family resides in the grandiose Lakshmi Vilas Palace at the heart of Vadodara, Gujarat. Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad the third built the palace in 1890, designed on the Indo-Saracenic Revival architecture and the cost of construction was ₹27,00,000 at that time. The construction had started in 1878 ad took 12 years to finish.
One of the most interesting things about the palace is that it is four times bigger than the Buckingham Palace in London and is the largest private residence built till date. The Lakshmi Vilas Palace covers an area of nearly 500 acres with 176 rooms and was made with local and international resources including marbles from Rajasthan and Italy.
