'The money you make is a symbol of the value you create', well whoever said that said it well. As recently a new list of the world's richest people has been revealed by the Hurun Global Rich List 2021, a research organization that was established in 1999 by British accountant Rupert Hoogewerf. According to the Hurun Global Rich List 2021 India added 40 new billionaires to the list despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to this list, last year Mukesh Ambani's wealth has been increased by 24 percent with his net worth reaching $82 billion, which ranked him in the eighth position of the richest person in the world. If we talk about India's youngest billionaire, then it has Apoorva Mehta of Instacart and Nikhil Kamath of Zerodha (Both are 34 years old). They both have a total net worth of $ 1.7 billion.
As per the report, “India's largest exporter, Reliance, accounts for 8 percent of the country's exports and 5 percent of India's total revenues from customs and excise duty."
Apart from Ambani, Apoorva Mehta and Nikhil Kamath, the list includes Shiv Nadar and family, with a wealth of $27 billion, Narayana Murthy with $3.1 billion. Pankaj Munjal and the family of Hero Cycles have also debuted on the list with a valuation of $1.2 billion.
Well, the one who rules the top list of Hurun Global Rich List 2021 is Elon Musk with a net worth of $197 billion. Jeff Bezos with a net worth of $189 billion is behind Elon. The third rank has been earned by French entrepreneur Bernard Arnault & family and his net worth is $114 billion. With a net worth of $110 billion, Bill Gates is in the fourth position and with a net worth of $101 billion, Mark Zuckerberg is on the fifth spot.
Rupert Hoogewerf, chairman and chief researcher, Hurun Report said, "Despite the disruption caused by COVID-19, this year has seen the biggest wealth increase of the last decade. A stock market boom, driven partly by quantitative easing and flurry of new listings, have minted eight new dollar billionaires a week for the past year. The world has never seen this much wealth created in just one year, much more than perhaps could have been expected for a year so badly disrupted by covid-19."
All-embracing, as per the report, there are now 3,228 billionaires globally, up from 414 last year. Even after the COVID-19 pandemic, the total wealth of billionaires rose from $3.5 trillion to $14.7 trillion.
As per the report, India ranks third with 177 billionaires. Germany, the UK, and Switzerland followed with 100-plus each, whereas China has now 1,058 billionaires and 696 billionaires in the US.
