A British couple has taken their love for India to another level after travelling 4,218 km across the country in an autorickshaw, only to ship the three-wheeler back home to the United Kingdom.

Helen and Mick, who visited India for an extended trip, bought a red-and-black autorickshaw and named it 'Timmy the Tin Can'. The vehicle became their trusted travel companion as they explored different parts of the country.

Couple Travels 4,218 Km Across India In 'Timmy' According to the couple's social media updates, they travelled approximately 4,218 km across India, relying on the autorickshaw for their journey.

The bright red-and-black vehicle, featuring cartoon eyes and a smiling face, soon became an inseparable part of their adventure. Registered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Timmy carries the number plate TN 03 AA 4342.

After spending months travelling across India, Helen and Mick found it difficult to leave their beloved three-wheeler behind. They eventually decided to buy it and arrange for its transportation to Britain. Six Months Later, Timmy Arrives In The UK
Getting the autorickshaw to the UK was no easy task. The couple packed it into a large shipping container, and the entire process took around six months.

On October 23, 2026, Timmy finally arrived at a UK port. Sharing the news on Instagram, the couple expressed their happiness, saying they could not imagine leaving the vehicle behind after travelling 4,218 km across India.

However, their adventure has encountered another hurdle. Despite the autorickshaw's arrival, the couple cannot immediately take it home or drive it on British roads because of customs, paperwork and road transport regulations.

The couple are now dealing with the necessary formalities to bring their Indian autorickshaw onto UK roads.

Their unusual adventure has captured attention online, with many people appreciating their decision to bring home an autorickshaw instead of a conventional travel souvenir.

The couple document Timmy's journey on Instagram through the account **@timmy_the_tin_can**.
