The numbers translate to 194 biryani orders per minute, or 3.25 every second. Chicken biryani led the pack with 57.7 million orders, earning the highest number of repeat orders in its category. But biryani’s dominance didn’t stop burgers and pizzas from claiming their share of India’s appetite, with 44.2 million and 40.1 million orders respectively. The humble veg dosa proved its appeal with 26.2 million orders, cementing its status as a crispy, golden classic beloved by foodies nationwide.

In 2024, Hyderabad led biryani orders with 9.7 million, followed by Bengaluru at 7.7 million and Chennai at 4.6 million. The platform also noted approximately 6 million biryani plates ordered during Ramadan 2024 alone, highlighting the dish’s significance during religious observances.
The report notes a shift in how Indians view food delivery. “Ordering food wasn’t about indulgence alone anymore; it became instinctive,” it states, describing orders as everything from a pause between meetings to a reward after long hours.
Veg dosa recorded 26.2 million orders, indicating sustained demand for traditional South Indian fare. High-protein food orders reached 23 million, led by Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Hyderabad.

The 3 pm to 7 pm window emerged as peak snacking hours. “Snack time is a mood, and we all live in it,” the report declares. Chicken burgers led with 6.3 million orders, while chicken rolls showed notable growth, climbing from 2.48 million orders in 2024 (when they were the top snack, according to The Indian Express) to 4.1 million in 2025. The traditional chai-samosa combination remained popular with 3.42 million samosas and 2.9 million orders of ginger tea.
Desserts and global flavours
White chocolate cake topped dessert orders with 6.9 million, followed by chocolate cake at 5.4 million and gulab jamun at 4.5 million. Among traditional Indian sweets, kaju barfi (2 million orders) and besan ladoo (1.9 million orders) were most popular.

International cuisine was also popular, with Mexican cuisine recording 16 million orders, Tibetan cuisine crossing 12 million, and Korean cuisine reaching 4.7 million. Matcha was the most searched global cuisine. However, hyperlocal cuisines saw dramatic growth; Pahadi cuisine orders increased ninefold, while Malabari, Rajasthani, and Malvani cuisines nearly doubled year-over-year.
Late-night eats and breakfast patterns
Ordering from midnight to 2 am has become increasingly common. “Late-night binging evolved from being a guilty secret to popular habit, bringing the perfect end to the day,” the report observes. Chicken burgers topped late-night orders at 2.3 million, maintaining their 2024 position as the preferred option for night-time cravings. Biryani ranked second.

For breakfast, idlis emerged as the most-ordered item with 11 million deliveries, followed by vegetarian dosas at 9.6 million orders.
Festive spikes and individual records
Religious festivals drove significant ordering spikes. Ganesh Chaturthi saw 228,000 deliveries of modak nationwide. During Navratri, the platform recorded 99,200 plates of sabudana khichdi, over 100,000 fasting thalis, and 70,000 orders for sabudana vadas.
On Ashtami evening at 8 pm, 220,000 orders were placed within 60 minutes as people broke their fast, a 17% increase in order value from the previous year. During Diwali week, 1.7 million kilograms of sweets, dry fruits, and desserts were ordered. On Rakhi, 4,650 orders were placed every minute during dinner hours.
Individual ordering patterns reached extremes. A Mumbai user placed 3,196 orders throughout 2025, approximately nine per day, the highest nationally. In Hyderabad, one customer spent Rs. 47,106 on 65 boxes of dry fruit cookie gift packs in August.
Dining out trends
Restaurant dining saw 23.7 million seated diners, with Bengaluru leading at 4.5 million, followed by Delhi (3.9 million) and Hyderabad (3.7 million). Daily bookings more than doubled year-over-year, with emerging markets like Jaipur, Chandigarh, and Kochi showing strong growth.
Premium dining bookings surged 123.7% to reach 1.6 million, while buffet reservations jumped 78% to 219,320, led by Delhi with 82,125 bookings. Group bookings were most popular in Bengaluru (749,000 bookings), Delhi (629,000), and Hyderabad (570,000).
