Santa: The year end brings us to the Cape of Good Hope.
Webmaster: Cap!
Santa: Madcap that you are—you know well how to play a spoilsport at a perfectly timed opening line. Another word from your foul mouth and I leave.
Webmaster: Mercy My Lord! Don’t leave me stranded in mid-waters. We are in the middle of a discussion.
Santa: With you we are in middle of nowhere! Mum’s the word for you.
Webmaster: Hmmm! I shall say no more.
Santa: And if you were no more! But where were we?
Webmaster: You were talking of some Cape of Good Hope.
Santa: Oh! Yes I wanted to congratulate you on the maiden Indian Test victory in South Africa. May this win, which took place near the Cape that gave hope to embattled sea-farers in the past, lift the sagging morale of Indian team for the World Cup.
Webmaster: But you were one of the biggest detractors of Ganguly and look how he has made the difference.
Santa: But like any vociferous critic I know how to eat my words. You see this is not a rigid but a flexi-Santa.
Webmaster: Not if you were in the court. You would be penalized for contempt.
Santa: This is no court, dear Webmaster. But from courts, I am reminded of the Delhi High Court’s conviction of Manu Sharma. It sure has given us hope that there is justice in the otherwise morally bankrupt political system.
Webmaster: May Jessica’s soul rest in peace.
Santa: It sure will, if Manu cools his heels in prison.
Webmaster: That will heal his mind also. The brains of the brats of rich and famous are always in subversive mode. Look there is news of CBI court absolving Laloo of disproportionate asset charges.
Santa: Perhaps court sees a reason in it. Seeing his larger than life image, his huge family—sons, daughters, pets, cows, buffaloes, et.al, the court may not be finding his assets disproportionate. And if the matter has not been weighed properly in the lower court, there is always the higher court.
Webmaster: We should always be afraid of the Highest Court—The Court of God—I think even if one escapes the noose here, no offender ever goes unpunished there.
Santa: To quote Shakespeare, “God’s is in his Heaven and all’s right with the world.”
Webmaster: Not always. On US coins is inscribed, “In God We Trust”—but even then the Americans are advised to lock their cars properly and not leave their wallets here or there.
