Congress routed or rooted
The much-hyped semi-final has ended with BJP winning the match 3-1 against the Congress. Vasundhra Raje and Uma Bharti scored for the winners and the third was a self-goal scored by the Ajit Jogi himself. Later a venomous serpent stung him and since he belonged to the tribal belt he could not get medical relief in time. Now he is recuperating at AIIMS oops the AICC headquarters at New Delhi. The Chief (Medical Officer) has expressed little hope of his recovery.

The elections results just out, have not only created doubts about the credibility of pollsters but also sent the Congress spin-doctors into a spin. The Italian lady and her Indian flock are a flurried lot after the so-called worst ever rout, Congress has seen in the past few years. The only salvage for the Congress is the retention of power at the bastion of Delhi. But there is an age-old adage which may confound the prospects of BJP in future; “Hindustan Usi Ka Hai Jiske Pass Dilli Hai” (India belongs to the one who holds fort at Delhi).

In this match, the Congress started as the favourites but wrong tactics and poor team selection cost them dear and it badly fell on its ‘hand’ and bruised its ego as well. However, much should not be read into this victory as anti-incumbency was the major factor in this (again so called) loss of face. But mind (scarcely available) it, Congress would jump back if the elections are held after eight months (If God wills and Lyngdoh permits).

The BJP is planning a big bash to celebrate this victory by cutting a cake on Vaj-payee’s birthday. The top brass of the BJP is expected to turn out in huge numbers to show its solidarity and faith in the birthday boy. Though, Uma Bharati may stay away from the ceremony fearing another ‘cake controversy’. You see, once bitten, twice shy. The Sanyasin, who spearheaded the campaign for the BJP in MP, dug a large political grave for her opponent, the Diggy Raja. This Raja was too was involved in digging potholes on the MP roads at night which proved to be his nemesis.

The Rani of Dholpur is ensconced on her throne but this time in Jaipur. Just to remind our outgoing plebeian CM, Ashok Gehlot that her name is Vasundhra Raje not Vashundra Raje. Perhaps he would have to practice pronouncing her name again and again as this will be often repeated word for him in the Vidhan Sabha.

In the contest between veterans at Delhi, the good old Khurana proved no match for Sheila Bhenji. The flyovers and the Metro project have swept her to power. Perhaps she is the only saving grace for the Congress. However, Congress has still made it to the finals as the non-existent third front of Surjeet, Weepy (VP), Gowda and Mulayam has not put up semblance of being a team by now. But the most amazing fact of these elections is the victory of ladies over men folk 3-1. Time, we shout ourselves hoarse of men’s lib.
