In his posts, Kainerugaba demanded that Turkey pay $1 billion to Uganda, arguing that the country deserves compensation for its military role in stabilizing Somalia. Uganda has long contributed troops under the African Union peacekeeping mission, helping maintain security in a region where Turkish companies have invested heavily in infrastructure and development projects. According to him, while Turkey benefits economically from Somalia, Uganda has carried much of the security burden.
What drew even sharper criticism, however, was his highly unusual personal demand. He stated that Turkey should also provide what he described as the country’s “most beautiful woman” to be his wife, suggesting that fulfilling both the financial and personal requests would strengthen ties between the two nations. The statement was widely condemned as inappropriate, sexist, and far outside the norms of diplomatic conduct.
Kainerugaba escalated the situation further by issuing a warning: if Turkey failed to meet these demands, Uganda could reconsider its diplomatic relationship and potentially cut ties within 30 days, including closing the Turkish embassy in Kampala. This guy, Muhoozi Kainerubaga is the chief of the Ugandan 🇺🇬 Army, son of the dictator Museveni an possible future leader of the country

The remarks quickly gained global attention, prompting backlash from analysts, diplomats, and the public. Many observers pointed out that such statements risk damaging Uganda’s international image and could strain its relationship with Turkey, a country that has expanded its influence across Africa through trade, investment, and diplomatic engagement.
This is not the first time Kainerugaba has made headlines for controversial social media activity. He has previously posted remarks about foreign leaders that sparked diplomatic unease, including comments about wanting to marry Giorgia Meloni, which also drew criticism at the time.
As of now, there has been no formal response from Turkey, and it remains unclear whether the statements reflect official Ugandan policy or are personal remarks. However, the episode has reignited debate about the role of senior military officials in diplomacy and the risks posed by unfiltered communication on social media.
