Don (1978)

Vivek Oberoi played the role of Maya Dolas in the film Shootout at Lokhandwala, an underworld goon who is taken care of by his mother. The film is originally based on the Lokhandwala Complex shootout that took place in 1991. Shootout at Lokhandwala was praised for some of its brilliant performances, including that of Amrita Singh as Aai and Sanjay Dutt as the Additional Commissioner of Police.

Agneepath (2012)

Directed by Karan Malhotra, the crime-drama film featured Hrithik Roshan and Sanjay Dutt in the lead roles. Well, the film was a remake of Amitabh Bachchan's 1990 film of the same name yet the actors gave it their best to make the remake a grand success. The film follows the struggle of a common man, Vijay Chauhan (Hrithik) as he seeks revenge from Kancha (Sanjay), for wrongly framing and murdering his father in the island village of Mandwa.

Shootout at Wadala (2013)

Shootout at Wadala, helmed by Sanjay Gupta is reportedly based on the life of Mumbai gangster Manya Surve, who was active at a time when criminal gangs were trying to spread their influence beyond the financial hub. Featuring John Abraham in the lead role, the film turned out to be a commercial success at that time. The film also featured Anil Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, Tusshar Kapoor, Manoj Bajpayee and Sonu Sood in lead roles.

Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai (2010)

Ajay Devgn starrer 'Once Upon a Time in Mumbai' speaks about the growth of Mumbai's underworld, and is said to be based on real-life gangsters Haji Mastan and Dawood Ibrahim. Featuring Ajay Devgan, Emraan Hashmi, Prachi Desai, Kangana Ranaut and Randeep Hooda in lead roles, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai was declared a box office hit.
