Katy Perry Beats Lady Gaga

Katy Perry Beats Lady Gaga

With her latest smash, Last Friday Night (TGIF), Katy Perry has beaten a chart record previously held by Lady Gaga and Justin Timberlake.

Last Friday Night

Last Friday Night is the fifth song from her latest album to top Billboard's Pop Songs airplay rankings. That put her ahead of Gaga and Timberlake, who'd both had a mere four.

Jackson's Record Too?

Expectations were high that 'Last Friday Night' might make it to the top of this week's Hot 100 and tie Michael Jackson's mark.

Wait And Watch…

Perry will have to wait till next week to find out whether she can match a milestone set by Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson still holds the record which combines airplay and sales, having landed five No. 1 singles from his 1987 'Bad' album.

Fun Times For Perry

She's been mopping the floor with the likes of Lady Gaga and Rihanna to nab nine MTV Video Music Awards nominations, is going steady with Justin Bieber, and just keeps rocking!

Other Hits From The Album

Perry's other No. 1 hits from Teenage Dream include the title track, 'Firework,' the sunny, Snoop Dogg-infused 'California Gurls,' and 'E.T.,' Perry's collaboration with Kanye West.

Slow & Steady

It took her a bit longer than expected, but Katy Perry's persistence 1980's vibe of 'Last Friday Night' made her finally land ahead of Lady Gaga (The Fame).
