Bollywood Stars Who Were Absent from the Big Screen in 2024

2024 was a remarkable year for Bollywood enthusiasts, with blockbuster releases like Pushpa 2, Laapataa Ladies, Stree-2, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa-3 dominating the industry. However, fans couldn't help but miss several prominent stars who didn't grace the silver screen this year. Let's delve into the notable Bollywood celebrities who took a hiatus from film releases in 2024.

Anushka Sharma: Awaiting a Grand Comeback

Anushka Sharma, renowned for her stellar performances in films such as Band Baaja Baaraat, PK, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, has been absent from Bollywood for over half a decade. Her last release, Zero (2018), featured her alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. Fans are eagerly awaiting her return with the biopic Chakda Xpress, based on the life of Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami. Despite the film being completed, its official release date remains under wraps.

Ayushmann Khurrana: Exploring Unique Narratives

Ayushmann Khurrana has carved a niche for himself with unconventional roles in films like Dream Girl 2, where he showcased his versatility. However, 2024 was a relatively quiet year for the actor. Reports suggest that Ayushmann is currently working on two projects, including the much-talked-about horror-comedy Thama, which has fans excited for his return to the big screen.

Ranbir Kapoor: Building Momentum for Future Releases

Ranbir Kapoor impressed audiences in 2023 with his powerful performances in Animal and Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. Despite these successes, the actor refrained from releasing any films in 2024. He is currently immersed in two ambitious projects: Ramayan Part 1 and Love and War, both slated for release in 2026.

Ranveer Singh: Preparing for Thrills

Ranveer Singh, known for his dynamic energy and versatile roles, was another star missing from the 2024 lineup. His last major appearance was in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023), followed by a cameo in Singham Again. Fans are now eagerly anticipating his role in Dhurandhar, an espionage thriller directed by Aditya Dhar, set to release in 2025.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan: A Year of Anticipation

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, a global icon and former Miss World, made waves in 2024 with her public appearances and personal milestones. However, her last cinematic outing was Ponniyin Selvan 2 in 2023, where her performance in this Tamil drama earned widespread acclaim. The lack of updates about her upcoming projects has only heightened fans' curiosity about what lies ahead for this Bollywood diva.

Aamir Khan: Perfecting His Next Venture

Aamir Khan, often called 'Mr. Perfectionist,' is known for prioritizing quality over quantity in his filmography. After his 2022 release Laal Singh Chaddha, Aamir stayed in the limelight as the producer of the critically acclaimed Laapataa Ladies. The actor is currently working on Sitaare Zameen Par, a sequel to his 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par, which also stars Genelia Deshmukh. Cinephiles eagerly await the release of this highly anticipated project.

Salman Khan: A Quiet Eid for Fans

Eid celebrations felt incomplete for Salman Khan's fans in 2024, as the superstar didn't have a film release this year. His 2023 projects, including Tiger 3 and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, were major hits, alongside his cameo in Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan. Looking ahead, Salman is gearing up for the release of Sikandar, slated to hit the big screens during Eid 2025.

Shah Rukh Khan: A Year of Silence

After dominating 2023 with three major releases -- Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki -- Shah Rukh Khan chose to remain behind the scenes in 2024. Fans can look forward to his return with King, where he will share the screen with his daughter, Suhana Khan, under the direction of Sujoy Ghosh.
