Birthday Special: Top-Notch Performances of Manoj Bajpayee on OTT

Manoj Bajpayee, a Padma Shri recipient and two-time National Award winner, is without a doubt one of Bollywood's best stars. What makes his performances legendary is his almost inherent desire to make any part he performs his own - as if he was born to portray this role. Bajpayee is one of the industry's most talented actors, has resurrected his sharp knack for portraying serious roles to land himself a part that not only defies seriousness but also has a hue of irony hooked to it. In fact, we can watch his work on OTT platforms also, such as; Netflix & Amazon Prime. So, on his 52nd birthday, we have listed some top-notch performances of him on OTT!

The Family Man

He starred in The Family Man, a spy adventure thriller series in which he played a middle-class man who secretly works for an intelligence organization. It was because of his outstanding success that it became one of the most critically praised shows of the year.

Gangs Of Wasseypur

In a film with a relatively unknown (at the time) cast, Bajpayee's depiction of revenge as Sardar Khan was an irresistibly cruel characterization of revenge. He somehow inspires the illusion that he is completely indestructible right up to the very end of the film - his demise in the film is a shock not because of the manner in which it occurs, but because of the greater aura, his character represents. You can watch this crime film on Amazon Prime.

Shool

Bajpayee can play any part and make it his own, but he excels at performing roles in socially important films. Bajpayee also starred in Shool, a socially important film in which he played a headstrong cop named Samar Pratap Singh, who is an upright cop caught in the middle of some mighty political games. The film did well at the box office, and some of the popular songs were also a success. It's available on Amazon Prime now.

Pinjar

Though several films have been made about the partition of India and Pakistan, few have featured characters as strong and compassionate as Pinjar. And when it comes to conflicted protagonists, Manoj Bajpayee outperforms the competition. Manoj Bajpayee was a delight to watch on screen as the rage abductor who was plagued by his own guilt complex.

Swami

Manoj Bajpayee played a simple man from a small town who arrives in Mumbai in search of a better life in Swami, a role which was not normally his strongest suit.

Satyameva Jayate

In Satyameva Jayate, Manoj Bajpayee gave a flawless score, but his character was somewhat less dominant than John's. He's a good-hearted and determined cop, but he's frequently beaten by his own sibling at his own game.

Raajneeti

Raajneeti, a political thriller drama based on the Mahabharata epic mythology, featured strong performances from the entire ensemble cast. Bajpayee's character (based on Duryodhan) was a sly brand of evil born in a misunderstanding of withheld justice.

Special 26

Manoj Bajpayee once again proved his acting mettle in Special 26 as a trustworthy and upright CBI cop. His performance was on par with Akshay Kumar's, and he didn't disappoint with this one. His acting talents are so innate that people instinctively identify with the characters he portrays.

Aiyaari

Manoj Bajpai and Siddharth Malhotra play against each other with energy and power, giving their roles of a veteran who will not leave the cause and a junior who will not hide inside the crooked system both heft and experience. The conflict scenes between them are a joy to see, mainly because they are played for motives that come from inside their conscience, rather than for effect.

Aligarh

In the biopic Aligarh, Bajpayee's impressive portrayal of Professor Siras and his hardships were marked by intrinsic insecurity mixed with quiet integrity. His raw success has a profound effect on you, but in a way that is unlike any of his other appearances.

Bhonsle

Bajpayee's actualization of Bhonsle is remarkable, and he uses his whole body to portray him, from his sullen, disinterested look to the weighted down, drooping shoulders to the uncertain gait and misanthropic ways. He conveys everything in a calculated way, from being a silent spectator to misdemeanors to the carrier of a boundless personal misfortune to a fearsome spiritual power.

Satya

Satya secured him his first National Film Award and catapulted him into the spotlight. Not only in his film career but also among the list of Bollywood's most famous gangbanger roles, his intense and realistic depiction of Bhiku Mhatre is a masterpiece. Bhiku Mhatre was the heart and soul of a film about the underbelly of Mumbai.
