When Bollywood took inspiration from the South!

When Bollywood took inspiration from the South!

It is always good to get inspired but it seems that our Bollywood filmmakers have taken this too serious, which is why they always try to recreate or remake something rather than exploring new ideas. Recently released 'Badla', directed by Sujoy Ghosh is garnering lots of rave reviews but very few know that it's a remake of Spanish film Contratiempo (The Invisible Guest) and there are other films too which are being remade in Bollywood. These filmmakers have not only taken the ideas from international cinema but sometimes they have also taken ideas from our South film industry. Here we bring you some of Bollywood's hit films which are actually remakes of hit south films. Take a look:

Hera Pheri

The 2000 comedy film starring Paresh Rawal, Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, and Tabu is one that enjoys a cult status among Pan-Indian audiences, much like the 1989 Malayalam film 'Ramji Rao Speaking', on which it is based. Paresh's comic genius was widely appreciated in the film.

Saathiya

The 2002 romantic drama produced by Mani Ratnam and Yash Chopra has Vivek Oberoi and Rani Mukerji playing the romantic leads. With AR Rahman composing the soundtrack, the film had every reason to be the super-hit it was. It is a remake of the Tamil film 'Alaipayuthey', which was co-written, co-produced and directed by Mani Ratnam. The 2000 film saw Shalini and R Madhavan as the protagonists.

Singham
