The official trailer of movie 'MSG-2: The Messenger' by Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was released on Friday. According to Dera Sacha Sauda, the trailer was released on Friday at 3.36pm on YouTube and about 20,358 people viewed it till filing of the report.

Talking to TOI, Pawan Insan, Dera Sacha Sauda spokesperson said, "After the success of 'MSG-1' which pocketed Rs 170 crore, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh decided to make 'MSG-2'." The movie is likely to be released on September 18.

The Punjab government had banned the controversial film Messenger of God-1 (MSG), fearing violence.

The SAD-BJP government cited "reports of tensions surrounding its release in some other parts of the country" as the reason behind not releasing Gurmeet Ram Rahim's film in the state.

Some Sikh groups had threatened to stop the film's screening. They had protested against the dera chief ever since he dressed up as Guru Gobind Singh in 2007.

Messenger of God had raked up a major controversy after Central Board of Film Certification chairman Leela Samson resigned along with eight other members after the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) decided to allow its screening. They alleged coercion and interference by the Central government to ensure the film's release.
