The awards season is upon us and the familiar questions are bound to crop up. Will Kangana Ranaut be sidelined again, because she chooses not to attend award ceremonies? Or has she changed her mind this time round?
The actress, who's breaking her back, literally (we hear she hurt herself during a song shoot recently), for Vishal Bhardwaj's 'Rangoon', seems to be in no mood to budge from her stand, even though it means going without awards this year too. Kangana's Rajjo act in 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns' was highly appreciated and is expected to be nominated.
When asked about it, Kangana was as upfront as ever. She said, "Yes, I have been getting calls (from organisers). But I still don't understand why they would appreciate someone's performance only if the person is available to receive the award. Shouldn't awards be given based on the quality of the performance, instead of first checking who can attend the ceremony? I am busy with 'Rangoon'. I really don't feel answerable to anyone. Award ceremonies don't mean much to me.
I look at them more as commercial events looking to get TRPs. However, I respect their initiative and expect them to respect my viewpoint. As far as item numbers for events are concerned, I am still not willing to do that for anyone," she says.
