Finding herself relegated to one song and barely two to three scenes without dialogues, Shruti Haasan has asked the makers of 'Rocky Handsome' to mention her name under the 'special appearance' credit, we hear. The John Abraham-starrer, which is being produced by the actor and directed by Nishikant Kamat, has Shruti as the female lead. There is no other leading actress in the cast.
Says a source, "She has asked for a 'special appearance' credit even though she is the lead actress. There has been a conversation with the makers and they have agreed to her request."
Adds the source, "Shruti agreed to do the film out of respect for the director. She loved the film's story and given her appreciation for Nishikant's work, she gave her nod to the project instantly, but the film focuses on John and child actor Diya Chalwad."
After her debut with 'Luck' (2009) followed by films that proved to be lacklustre, Shruti Haasan made another bid in Bollywood last year with big-ticket projects like the Akshay Kumar-starrer 'Gabbar Is Back' and 'Welcome Back'. Despite her South film commitments, she agreed to be part of Rocky Handsome too, because she had worked with John in 'Welcome Back'. "However, while shooting for the film, she realised that though her character was well sketched, it was not a leading lady's role and asked for a different credit," adds the source.
Shruti Haasan remained unavailable for comment.
