Neetu Chandra's yet to release Maithili film, 'Mithila Makhaan', has won the Best Maithili Film in the 63rd National Award. The actor, who has been seen in films including 'Garam Masala' (2005) and 'Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!' (2008), turned producer with the Bhojpuri film, 'Deswa' (2011). However, her yet to release production bagging a National Award is keeping her elated.
The actor turned producer says, `Many Bollywood actresses have turned producer and so did I. But to get such a prestigious award at such an early phase of my career as a producer makes me really happy. It gives me confidence to produce more films.`
Neetu also shares credit with her director-brother, Nitin Chandra. `It feels good that you have a National Award winner brother at your home. He has worked very hard to make the film what it is. We will release the film only after doing rounds of film festivals now.`
The film deals with the struggles of immigrants and an inspiring tale of an NRI. The film has been shot extensively in USA, Canada, Nepal and India.
