It happened with Mallika Sherawat who after her spectacular launch in Murder wanted to fly free.
Now it's Kangana's turn. Having started off on a spectacular note with the Bhatts' Gangster and having just completed her second film Woh Lamhe for the banner, the mercurial actress wants to move ahead.
She explains, "It's not as if I'm being ungrateful to the banner that brought me so much fame. I'll remain forever grateful to Mukesh and Mahesh Bhatt Saab for giving me a break like Gangster. Other newcomers dream of such a launch. I actually got it. But now I need to move on."
Kangana is disturbed by a rumour that she's under contract with Vishesh Films. "I'm under no contract with anyone. I don't know who's creating the impression that I am under contract with the Bhatts. I am not! I was never under contract.
Unfortunately many filmmakers seem to think so. They say, 'Kangana can't work for anyone outside thr Bhatts' banner'. But the truth is, I've almost completed a film for Suneel Darshan-ji and I've just signed a 3-movie deal with UTV."
The actress sighs. "I don't know who is spreading the story. But woh contract wala zamana ab guzar gaya," she says referring to the days when Hema Malini had to give away half her earnings to the man who launched her.
