There are 3 movies releasing on Friday, September 15, 2017 - Simran, Lucknow Central and Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi. Simran features Kangana Ranaut and Soham Shah. Lucknow Central has Farhan Akhtar, Gippy Grewal, Inamul Haque, Deepak Dobriyal, Rajesh Sharma, Ronit Roy and Diana Penty. Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi casts Rishi Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Vir Das and Payal Ghosh. So as the cast goes, I think we all know as to who the winner is.
Let's not really be biased simply on the basis of the cast though it is a very important ingredient for any movie. So what shall be the criteria? Let's take the track record of all the Directors. Simran is directed by Hansal Mehta. And this guy means business. He is known for his movies like Shahid, Aligarh and Citylight. So he has delivered meaningful movies in his illustrious career of 17 years.
Lucknow Central has been directed by Ranjit Tiwari, who has assisted Nikkhil Advani in Patiala House, D-Day and Katti Batti. With Lucknow Central Ranjit is venturing into full-time direction. Interestingly Nikkhil Advani is the producer of this movie.
Sanjay Chhel was earlier a dialogue and screenplay writer. And his directorial debut was with Khoobsurat and he followed it up with Kya Dil Ne Kaha. Khoobsurat, released in 2002 featured Sanjay Dutt and Urmila Matondkar and did a decent business at the hustings. The movie is also known for its song - Aey Shivani. The other movie bombed at the Box Office. So he is back after ages with this comedy - Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi. Though it has experienced actors but lack of any big names shall hurt it in the beginning.
We didn't leave our research on the success or failures of the above movies simply on the basis of their content. We asked the audience after giving them a choice as to which movie are they likely to watch in theatres. And almost everyone opined that they did prefer Lucknow Central. However, this database consists of very small sample size.
So in my opinion, Lucknow Central shall get a very good opening and shall make money on the basis of its content.
Simran is sure to have amazing content and shall pick up after the grapevine about it.
Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi shall do well on the TV when it makes its premiere on the Cable since humour as a genre is preferred by the TV lovers as they appreciate even small comic scenes.
To end, we wish all the movies our best wishes for their success!
