Brett Lee, known for his never-say-die approach on the cricket field, has shown a more gentle side off it, recording a love song with a legendary Indian singer.

The 30-year-old Lee and Asha Bhonsle, a 74-year-old famous for her diverse range from love songs to caberet and funky pop, headed for the studio during Australia's victorious campaign in the Champions Trophy, staged in India in October and November.

The song portrays a love affair between a foreigner and an Indian girl, a leading newspaper reported on Friday.

"Other than cricket, my passion is music," Lee was quoted in the daily as saying. "So when told I'd be singing with a legend in India, I was glad."

Lee plays bass and acoustic guitar in rock band Six & Out that also features his older brother, Shane. His mother is a qualified piano teacher.

The blonde paceman made his test debut in 1999, and has bagged 211 wickets, along with recording 255 dismissals in one-day internationals.
