'All that glitters is not gold' and Zero has proved it. Anand L Rai who is known for his realistic films and giving us some of the most loved films has made us realize that only star power and performances are not mandatory to make a great film, a strong script and equally brilliant narration is also required.

Zero is a story set in Meerut where Bauua Singh (Shah Rukh Khan) a vertically challenged man, is living with his family and has a huge crush on Babita Kumari (Katrina Kaif), a glamorous film actress who rules millions of hearts. Bauua's father Ashok (Tigmanshu Dhulia), wants him to get settled in life so Bauua gets to meet Aafia (Anushka Sharma) a differently ables scientist suffering from cerebral palsy. Bauua fell for Aafia, without even bothering about her disabilities and feels she is like him, incomplete, but doesn't want to get married and ran away from his wedding to meet Babita.

The first half is over with so many hustle and bustle. Lots of happy moments in the first half which will bring a smile on your face, throughout the first half.

Here comes the second half Bauua meets Babita. Is it the end of the story? No, there are lots more to come. Has Bauua forgot Aafia and what about Babita? What is next? This is second half with lots of questions and lots of things happening all together and you get confused and forgot about the original plot, which is actually nothing.

But don't worry there are few comic scenes and comic moments in the second half too, which will provide some respite in this tense situation. There are some beautiful moments in the film, especially in the first half, which will leave you mesmerized.

Shah Rukh Khan as a vertically challenged, a happy go lucky person is exceptionally great and has delivered a stellar performance. This is one of the best performances of Shah Rukh Khan which will be remembered for many years.

Anushka Sharma as Aafia is brilliant and perfectly played a differently able scientist's character.

Katrina Kaif as Babita Kumari has a rather short role in comparison to Shah Rukh and Anushka but she is impressive. Her glamorous avatar has once again been utilized brilliantly.

Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub as Guddu, Bauua's friend is superb and witty. His one liners come to rescue when you feel lost.

Cameo appearances by Madhavan and Abhay Deol are good on their parts.

The music of the film has already won many hearts and is topping the charts.

So what went wrong to make this beautiful looking film to be a great film? Well, it is Himanshu Sharma, a National Award winning writer who might have this disbelief that big star cast is enough to pull the audience. A big star cast can be useful but he might have forgotten that in today's times content is the king.

The editing team should also understand that with this type of plot and weak script, more efforts are needed and the second half could have been shorter and crispier to hold audience's intrigue.

Anand L Rai as the director has also disappointed us. It was not expected from him and he should have done more efforts.

Overall, Zero is a good film but it could be great. With some stellar performances, you can ignore its weak points. Aesthetically it's a beautiful film with high production values. If you are a fan of Shah Rukh Khan, it's a treat for you.
