Your Honor, a SonyLIV original is an adaptation of the Israeli series by the same name written by Ishan Trivedi and directed by E. Niwas.
Set in Ludhiana it begins with an accident where a bike rider who is a wanted criminal gets seriously injured on the spot and the car driver flees the spot. The car driver's father is Bishan Singh (Jimmy Sheirgill) who is a righteous judge in Ludhiana and is known for his honesty and work in the city.
As soon as Bishan gets to know that his son Abeer was behind the wheel at the time of the deadly accident and this Honest High Court judge turns into a father who tries to turn things in favour of his son to save him from the fruit of his actions. This incident sparks fears of a gang war and puts the city cops on high alert and what follows forms the crux of this crime-suspense-thriller.
E Nivas has done an excellent job but the disturbing thing is Jimmy Shergill's scenes with his son that look unconvincing. Jimmy's character looks uncomfortable every time he has a scene with his son Abeer and seems to be trying too hard to get into the shoes of a father. The screenplay also doesn’t offer much in terms of suspense and thrill and instead becomes slow and dull after a brief period.
Jimmy Shergill as judge Bishan seems to have been made for the role. Jimmy Shergill manages to convince his audience that he is the righteous judge and the audience is almost drawn to empathise and root for this grey character. Parul Gulati too adds a punch with her Bhojpuri accent in the Punjab heartland as she climbs the popularity charts, one web series at a time.
Other than Jimmy Mita Vashisht grabs the spotlight as she manages to grab the essence of a small-town female police officer and portrays it beautifully on screen leaving a lasting impression on her audience.
Yashpal Sharma, Varun Badola, and Suhasini Mulay are also good and Pulkit Makol does not bring much to the table. It is very disturbing and distracting for the audience. The music of Your Honor is average and could have been a lot better. The background score of the series is also fine.
Overall, Your Honor is an ok story that has its gripping moments. It is all about Jimmy Shergill and Mita Vashisht and their noteworthy performances who try to keep the entertainment dose on most of the times but in the end, the screenplay fails them. Can be watched once if you have nothing to do.
