The channel was running his face on Sushant Singh Rajput's case. Rajat's picture was unknowingly used to show SSR's accountant named 'Rajat Mewati'. Rajat Barmecha, unaware of the situation, started getting dms on his social media accounts while he was shooting for his upcoming web series. His family members were in a state of shock and panic.

Rajat Barmecha says "Hi guys, something very unexpected and unfortunate has occurred. I don't know how to define it. In the ongoing Sushant Singh Rajput case, Times Now channel has run a story about Sushant's accountant `Rajat Mewati". Now the channel has somehow managed to run a story with my picture on it as `Rajat Mewati' This has become very chaotic for me and my family. It is extremely difficult for me to understand how in an ongoing legal case how can someone make such a blunder. I don't think I need to clarify but guys please be extremely careful before believing any new channels. It could ruin lives !"

Under the ongoing circumstances of COVID and to keep his 90yr old grandfather and family safe, he moved out of his house and checked into a hotel in Juhu for at least 2 months to avoid the risk of exposing his family to the virus. As his family's health is the main priority for Rajat, he avoided shoots for the past few months. Rajat has a 40-day shoot lined up.
