After Netflix's crime-thriller film, 'Raat Akeli Hai', Nawazuddin Siddiqui is ready to mark his presence once again on the digital platform with his next comedy-drama film, 'Serious Men'. Sudhir Mishra who is known for films like 'Yeh Woh Manzil To Nahin', 'Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin' and 'Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi', has directed the film. The film is based on a novel by Manu Joseph with the same name. The novel has won the inaugural 'The Hindu Literary Prize' and the 2011 'PEN Open Book Award'.
The film chronicles the story of an ambitious underachiever father (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) who capitalizes on his son's newfound fame as a boy-genius to improve his family's fortunes. This film shows how Ayyan and Oji Mani (Indira Tiwari) want their son to shine like a bright star and want him to be a successful child but things take turns when Ayyan finds himself trapped in a scam. In September 2017, it was announced that Sudhir Mishra will adapt the novel into a feature film with Bhavesh Mandalia writing the screenplay. In 2018, Netflix announced that it will back the screen adaptation by Mishra. Now after the period of two years, the film is finally set to release on Netflix, October 2nd. In the film, Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be portraying the role of Ayyan Mani opposite Indira Tiwari. The film is produced by Bombay Fables and Cine Raas, 'Serious Men' also stars Aakshath Das, Shweta Basu Prasad, Nassar in the pivotal roles.
