Balaji favorite Ronit Roy, talks about his fruitful innings with the production house.

Q: Firstly Ronit, how do you manage so many serials at one time?
A: So it seems that I am doing a lot of work but it is not so. My character in Kyunki saas...., Mihir has been dormant for quite a while now, as the track is been played out on various other actors. Bajaj in Kasautii Zindagi .... is currently dead.

So apart from a few flashback scenes, there is not much work there. Yes, Kayamath and Kasamh Se mainly have taken up a lot of my time but as my character in Kayamath will culminate soon, things promise to slow down there too.

Also all the shows that I'm currently working on are Balaji shows, so a lot of internal adjustment is possible and is done depending upon which show is on priority.

Q: You came as a surprise in Kasamh Se.....
A: Yes. It came as a surprise to me also. Although I knew about it, I wanted the surprise element to remain and not too much to be said about it before it came on air. I wanted the shock value of the character to remain intact and also the audience not to have any pre conceived notions about the role.

I am happy that a cross section of my audience have taken on to the role. Of course like any other, it has its teething problems and requires fine tuning which I am working on.

Q: Will it be a cameo?
A: This is a question best answered by Ekta Kapoor or Nivedita Basu.

Q: Your character looks different in Kasamh Se. What will it be like?
A: The character Aparajit Deb has a lot of shades. Flamboyance, eccentricity, hatred, egoism, violence and lots more. It will be interesting to see how the character finally shapes up. I feel if backed correctly by the creative heads and the writers, this role has tremendous potential

Q: So you are paired opposite Prachi Desai?
A: Yes, but I am not sure if paired is the right word.

Q: God forbid it happens, but don't you feel mixed up between your characters?
A: Other than Aparajit Deb, I have got into the skin of the other characters completely. I have lived with the characters in Kyunki and Kasautii, for the past five years, so I don't see that happening but it would be fun to see Mihir behaving like Aparajit Deb. (laughs)

Q: What was the reason behind you taking up Kasamh Se? Was it because of your rapport with Ekta Kapoor?
A: By God's grace, I have a good rapport with my boss but that seldom begets a role like this one. The role is great and I am thankful that Ekta and Nivedita Basu thought of me for this one.

Q: Which of the characters that you have played till now, have been closest to you?
A: All my roles have been very close to me but if I had to choose one, it would definitely be Rishabh Bajaj and now Aparajit Deb.

Q: Any new serial in the pipeline for you?
A: Oh good God!! Not another one (laughs).

Q: How does it feel being Balaji's favourite?
A- Am I? If I am, then I am honoured.

Q: 'Kasautii...' is slated for another leap. Will Mr. Bajaj continue post the leap?
A: No comments on that.

Q: Will you come back to do more movies?
A: If I do, I do. If I don't, I am not going to lose any sleep over it.

Q: How has been the journey in Balaji so far?
A: Like any journey it has had its share of upheavals, its ups and downs, but everything has always been dealt with sensibly, reasonably, objectively and positively and brought to a positive outcome, which is what matters eventually. I'm eternally grateful to Ekta and Balaji Telefilms for resurrecting my career and my life. (SAMPURN)
