After taking a long break due to the lockdown, Alia Bhatt resumed the shoot of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' by the end of September this year. Ganugubai was one of the initial Bollywood films which restarted shooting in the lockdown.
Now, we have got a recent update on Alia Bhatt starrer 'Gangubai Kathiawadi'. Reportedly, Jim Sarbh, who played the role of Malik Kufur in Ranveer Singh's 'Padmaavat' has joined the cast of the film. `Jim plays a journalist in the film and has already shot for some of his portions. He will soon start shooting for his remaining part as well,` revealed a media source.
Jim Sarbh made his way into the Hindi film industry with Sonam Kapoor starrer 'Neerja' and the actor then went on to establish himself with films like 'Padmaavat', 'Sanju' and 'Taish'.
Speaking about 'Gangubai Kathiawadi', the film is a biographical crime film that stars Alia Bhatt in the titular role. It is based on a chapter of Hussain Zaidi's book Mafia Queens of Mumbai about Gangubai Kothewali, the madam of a brothel in Kamathipura. The film also stars Ajay Devgn and Imraan Hashmi in cameo roles and TV personality Shantanu Maheshwari will make his Bollywood debut with this film.
