As per the media reports, Gangubai's family has filed a case against author Hussain Zaidi, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Alia Bhatt as they have objected to the film plot. Well, this controversy has created some problems for the makers and now the Bombay City civil court has asked Alia, Sanjay and Hussain to reply on this case by January 7, 2021. Nothing more has been disclosed on this matter yet.
Bhansali's next venture shooting had already faced an abrupt stop due to the COVID-19 pandemic and imposed lockdown. Now, with the legal trouble, it may have increased more problems for Sanjay as even in the past he had faced huge backlash because of his period drama film Padmaavat.
Talking more about the movie storyline then it is based on the story of Gangubai Harjivandas, whose husband sold her at a young age for Rs 500 at the brothel and later she became one of the 'Mafia Queens' of the Mumbai underworld.
Apart from Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi are also portraying an important role in the film. As per the sources, Ajay will portray the role of a gangster named Karim Lala whereas there is no such information about Emraan's character.
