1) What is the concept behind the movie, Bolo Hau?
It is a fun loving, family entertainer. The whole idea of this film is that when audiences walk out of the movie, they should be happy and smiling. Bolo Hau narrates the story of Salman, the son of a small-time dealer in antiques and Rukhsar, born to a family of Nawabs, they meet at a common friend's wedding and end up falling in love with each other. The movie is a complete package of wholesome entertainment with foot tapping songs, dance, drama and lots of humour.
2) How was your experience working with Ankit Rathi?
It was exciting to work with Ankit, and was fascinating to watch him bring Salman's character to life. While there was so much going on, one thing that intrigued me was how he conducts himself on sets. I am also very sure that the audiences would love the chemistry of Salman & Rukhsar.
3) What were the obstacles that you encountered during the shoot?
I didn't encounter any such obstacles during the shoot but yes one of the biggest challenges was to get the Hyderabadi accent right, Hyderabadi Urdu has a unique quality; I spent a lot of time interacting with and observing people in Hyderabad to correctly capture its nuances.
4) How did you manage to tackle them?
I practised by talking to everyone I could find mouthing the accent, my father and the story, screenplay, dialogue writer Abid shah too guided and trained me at every step.
5) Any particular actor or director you wish to work with in the future?
I'd love to get the chance to work with Zoya Akhtar - She's a phenomenal filmmaker whose work I hugely admire.
6) Tell us something about the role that you are playing in the movie?
My character is of Rukhsar, a girl born to a family of Nawabs, with a conservative thought process. Whereas, my character is strong, sensitive, and kind and the most attractive thing is that she has a mind of her own unlike her family.
7) Is there someone who motivated you to choose acting as a career?
I've been on movie sets several times, and I've learnt a lot from working as an editor & assistant director, so many people have motivated me but actual inspiration came from the sets of Sultan, when Salman Sir said, 'Madamji you have a really nice face for print, you should try giving acting a shot - perhaps that's what gave me the final push I needed.. and decided to be an actor.
8) Can you give us a slight gist for your upcoming projects?
There are a couple of other things in the pipeline that I'm looking forward to, I am excited to see what the future holds.
