The picturesque city of London with the Thames, Big Ben and other landmarks has become a hot spot for
Bollywood these days.
During the past one year alone there are about 40 films that have been shot in
this city. The names not just include big, but also smaller banners. It is estimated that the Indian productions
are worth £28 million annually to London.
Earlier, it was only names like Subhash Ghai and Yash Chopra who dared to invest in such foreign locations,
but things are different now. Right from ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham' to ‘Namaste London', ‘Cheeni Kum',
‘Salam-e-Ishq', ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom', ‘Goal', ‘Chak De'... the names are uncountable today.
Now, since the Indian film industry is giving so much to London, Film London has realized that it is an
important emerging market and one can rake in profits by encouraging film crews to shoot there. Thus, the
Indian filmmakers are getting top priority here these days.
Film London is now setting up an advisory group composed of Indian producers with the experience of working
in London with a view to inform and advice the Indian production companies about working there.
Now see what the Indian Film industry can do to our former rulers!
