Rajshri Productions' first daily soap ‘Rehne Vaali Mehlon Ki', which was launched two years, ago has just finished screening 500 episodes. Looks like, Kavita Barjatya, the person in charge of the show and sister of Sooraj Barjatya, is in no mood to halt her journey here. She expects to reach the 1000-episode mark.

These days, Kavita is engrossed with television serials and has plans to launch a couple more. Nevertheless, she too plans to take up direction and also produce films someday. We recently caught up with her to learn more. Here is the excerpt.

Q: ‘Rehne Vaali Mehlon Ki' has completed 500 episodes... how has the journey to this milestone been?
A: It's been a wonderful journey of two years since we started the soap on Sahara. Without Sahara's help it wouldn't have been possible. Even the efforts put in by the cast and the crew of the serial has been inspiring.

Q: So, are you planning to celebrate the 1000th episode too?
A: The hopes and wishes are surely there that we achieve that milestone too. But really speaking, we haven't really planned about it or so. We would certainly want to do so yet.

Q: Who has been your favourite character in the serial... the character which you can relate to yourself?
A: Rani's character, the protagonist of our serial is my favourite one. I can't say it matches my character. It's different in certain aspects from my real self. It's a character which every young person should be like.

Q: Is Mr Sooraj Barjatya creatively involved in the serial too?
A: Yes, off course he is. He has always been the pillar behind everything Rajshri is involved in.

Q: Are you happy with the response of the audiences?
A: Yeah, very happy. The response has been amazing. The audiences even remember and talk about the sarees and jewelleries worn by the different characters in the serial. I never expected the kind of detailing the audiences would get into.

Q: Don't you think if the same soap would have been aired on other channels like Star or Zee, it would have gathered more TRP?
A: See, we are more concerned on the GRP of the channel than the TRP. Zee or Star is of course much more watched by the viewers. Anyways, if the show is good it would work on any channel.

Q: Any plans of taking up direction in the future?
A: I can't say anything about it at the present moment. Maybe it can happen in the future. But at the moment, I am just dedicating my time to my unit and the creative part of the serials.

Q: Rajshri has been known to produce family films... are you planning to experiment in terms of serials?
A: Yes, certainly. ‘Pyaar Ke Do Naam', which was aired on Star was a romantic story based on rebirth. When it comes to giving family drama, I know that Rajshri is the best.

Q: What other serials you are working on?
A: There is couple of them which is in the pipeline. It would take around three months before I can talk about it.

Q: What's on the film front after the success of ‘Vivaah'? Which is the next project Rajshree is working on?
A: There are discussions going on the scripts. It would take another six months before anything is finalized.

Q: Would we be seeing Salman Khan working back under Rajshree's banner?
A: I don't think, I am not the right person to ask this question. I am just involved in television production. Only time would tell whether Salman would be seen in our film or not.
