After a string of box office success such as ‘Kal Ho Na Ho', ‘Koi Mil Gaya', ‘Veer-Zaara', and ‘Salaam Namaste', Preity has had three successive failures in ‘Kabhi Alvida
Naa Kehna', ‘Janeman' and ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom'.
The 32-year-old actress is going through a lean patch and some believe is beginning to look jaded. Her performance in ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom', was termed lack luster by
most critics.
Preity must have been disappointed by the third successive failure from the Yash Raj Films banner once reputed to have the Midas touch, because she doesn't have too
many films lined up.
She will be next seen in Rituparno Ghosh's English language film ‘The Last Lear' that co-stars Amitabh Bachchan. The film, which is currently in post production, is
experimental in nature and has little chance of setting cash registers ringing. At best it could reinforce Preity's image as a good actor.
Preity is currently filming ‘Mera Bharat Mahaan'. which has lately been in the news because of problems on its sets in Roopnagar, Punjab.
Recently administrative authorities, responding to complaints from local farmers of crop damage and misbehavior by unit members, halted shooting of the film when they
found the unit had started filming before receiving permission to do so. The cast and the crew were forced to return to Bombay.
Earlier, filming a scene with Salman Khan that required her to run barefoot, Preity stepped on a nail. The injury progressively worsened and the actor was administered
tetanus injections.
Despite the difficulties, Preity enjoyed the experience of filming in rural India. The ambiance of lush green fields and livestock brought her close to nature.
