Monica reached Harmandar Sahib along with a few relatives to pay obeisance at the shrine and seek blessings for the future.
The starlet, who made international headlines after being arrested with mobster Abu Salem in Lisbon (Portugal) in 2002, has been living with her paternal relatives at Chabewal village, near Hoshiarpur, 130 km from Chandigarh, ever since her release from a prison in Hyderabad last month.
Attired in a salwar kameez, Monica was mobbed by fans and media as she entered the shrine.
Appearing unruffled with the attention, the starlet paid obeisance and later went to the langar hall (community kitchen) to partake of the langar (holy meal). She also did voluntary service by cleaning shoes and utensils at the kitchen.
"I wanted to thank the almighty for helping me out of the crisis (she was involved in two cases of forged passports). I have some offers from Bollywood and also films in the south. I will announce about them at the right time," Monica told reporters.
