Bhojpuri film producer Deepak Sawant's upcoming film 'Gangotri', starring Amitabh Bachchan, is a bi-lingual
film that is slated for a Diwali release alongside Bollywood biggies 'Saawariya' and 'Om Shanti Om'.
Big B had acted in Sawant's earlier Bhojpuri film 'Ganga'.
Mr Sawant, who was Mr Bachchan's make-up man for more than three decades said, ''Gangotri is a sequel to
'Ganga', which according to the producer, did well at the box office.'' 'Gangotri' produced in both Bhojpuri and
well as Hindi, will be released with about 250 prints all over India. ''We are planning a November 9 release,'' Mr
Sawant informed.
'Gangotri' will begin where 'Ganga' ended in which Mr Bachchan who plays a village Thakur, kills his errant son
and goes to jail.
''The sequel will start with a brief recap of the first film (Ganga) with Amitji being released from jail. In this film
too, Amitji plays a prominent role. He will be seen singing, dancing and action scenes.
Hema Malini too makes a brief appearance,'' he added.
Mr Sawant said Bhoomika Chawla plays the lead role of 'Gangotri'.
When asked about the relationship of 'Gangotri' with 'Ganga', he replied, ''Gangotri is connected to the Thakur
(Amitabh).'' 'Gangotri' is a complete family entertainer with lots of drama, he said and hoped the film would be
well received by the Bhojpuri and Hindi speaking audiences.
The film has been produced by Mr Sawant and directed by Abhishek.
Ashok Ghayal has written the lyrics and scored the music. Vasant Jadhav is the cinematographer. Udit
Narayan, Manoj Tiwari, Alka Yagnik, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghosal have lent their voices to the
music.
