Before you think that she has made this move to threaten other actors like Mallika Sherawat and Neha Dhupia, who have dared to bare, be aware that the unconventional actor did the scene because the script demanded it.
Apparently, director Anand Rai was very apprehensive about getting Sonali to do the scene. However, much to his surprise, she agreed.
In gratitude, and relief maybe, he made certain that she was as comfortable as possible during the shooting by keeping just a minimal crew on the set for that scene.
She says, "Primarily, because I had full faith in the director Anand Rai. After he narrated the concept to me, I gave him some suggestions that he readily incorporated."
The actress further informs that it's a strategic move to prove her versatility. She says that most people in the film industry tend to stereotype and that's when she decided to do things differently.
She says, "I had to prove myself as a versatile actor. I can do whatever is required of me as an actress.
Since I haven't done too many song-and-dance sequences people thought that I can't do it. That's when I decided to participate in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa."
Sonali's co-stars in the Sahara One Presentation are Jimmy Shergill, Kay Kay Menon, and Nandana Sen.
