Anil Kapoor Mourns Nana Patekar in Heartfelt Tribute: Recalls Four Decades of Camaraderie from 'Parinda' to 'Welcome'!
Following the sudden passing of veteran actor Nana Patekar at age 75 in Goa, long-time co-star and friend Anil Kapoor shared an emotional tribute late Thursday evening. Recalling their decades-long bond, Kapoor reflected on the personal ache of losing another cherished confidant shortly after the loss of filmmaker-actor Satish Kaushik.

Kapoor posted a candid photograph captured from behind on a film set, showing the two actors holding hands—a quiet visual of the off-screen camaraderie that powered their dynamic performances on screen.

"Mera Dost Mujhe Chhodkar Chala Gaya": Anil Kapoor's Emotional Post

Writing across his social media handles, Kapoor shared his grief over Patekar's unexpected demise:

“Mera dost mujhe chhodkar chala gaya... pehle Satish aur ab mera Nanya. NANYA, tu achanak bohot jaldi chala gaya…

Duniya ka sabse bada kalakaar, humein chhodkar hamesha-hamesha ke liye chala gaya. Bohot miss karunga tujhe, life mein, set par, phone par aur bade parde par…”

(My friend has left me... first Satish, and now my Nanya. Nanya, you left us so suddenly, far too soon... The greatest artist in the world has left us forever. I will miss you dearly—in life, on the sets, on the phone, and on the big screen).

The bond between Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar stood as one of the most distinctive actor-pairings in Hindi cinema, shifting seamlessly across contrasting genres.

Following official clearances in Goa on Thursday afternoon, Patekar’s mortal remains were flown to Pune. The actor was cremated late Thursday night at his farmhouse in Donje, Pune, with full state honors accorded by the Maharashtra Government, including a ceremonial 21-gun police salute.

The funeral was attended by political leaders alongside prominent figures from the Marathi and Hindi film fraternities, as his son Malhar Patekar lit the pyre. Speaking to the press, Malhar pledged that his father's social missions—especially the agrarian relief programs run through the NAAM Foundation—would continue without pause.

For film enthusiasts who grew up watching the intense confrontations of Parinda or the banter of Welcome, Anil Kapoor’s grief reflects the collective sentiment of the film fraternity. Nana Patekar's departure marks the loss of a rare actor who bridged serious parallel cinema and blockbuster mass entertainment with unfiltered conviction.
