Shamir's interests lie in intellectual world cinema and hence having done seven films of substance in just 4 years, he has been fortunate to have two legends sing under his baton.
He has done all of Madhur Bhandarkar's films including national award winning film ‘Page3' and the popular – ‘Corporate' and ‘Traffic Signal'.
Shamir has also made Yana Gupta dance on ‘O What a Babe' in Mahesh Manjrekar's ‘Rakt' and in ‘One Love' he joined hands with UK boy band Blue and Shaan to make Abhishek Bachchan and Bipasha Basu roll. Shamir has also composed the music for Karan Razdan's ‘Umar' and Raveena Tandon's ‘Stumped'.
Having collaborated with artists in Europe for songs of Rohan Sippy's ‘Bluff Master', including ‘Say Na Say Na' and ‘Bure Bure', Shamir has also worked with Jay Sean on ‘Kya Kool Hain Hum' for ‘Bhangra Hip Hop'.
Till date he has done more than 150 advertising jingles for popular brands and has done the ICC world cup anthem for the last world cup where he made 11 leading singers sing in one song.
Shamir has recently hit the jack pot with the album of ‘06 07 – Asha and Friends' where he has got Ashaji to sing with superstar Sanjay Dutt, gorgeous Urmila Matondkar, Aussie pace bowler Bret Lee and the Little Champs winner of the Zee TV's popular show ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa'.
A staunch believer in original music, Shamir has blended the old school music with new influences keeping good music alive and giving due respect to Indian music and culture while legitimately adapting music from the west though collaborations.
He has been nominated for various awards both for his films and advertising music. Shamir is in a very unique position being the only music director in the country to be an MBA and a cost accountant.
A head honcho in a very big multinational corporation (Virgin), Shamir is a multifaceted creative person. He has been a managing director and music director both.
