No. That isn't Gulzar or Javed Akhtar turning on the faucet of their creativity full-on. It's the gun-and-gals guy Sanjay Gupta turning a new leaf with his poetry penned in his autobiographical film Alibaug specially for his estranged wife Anu. And soon Gupta may put all his poems in a book dedicated to his wife.
"Anu ke samne meri bolti band ho jaati hai. The only way I can express myself is through poetry. I've written quite a lot of poems for her, something I wouldn't do for any one else in the world. So if people find my poetic efforts in Alibaug bad, they would know whom to blame," jokes Gupta.
That the two have been separated for some years now is no secret. Sanjay Gupta's wife was next to his bedside when he had a near-fatal road accident on the way from Khandala to Mumbai a few years ago. But by then their marriage was off.
But now there's every sign of the couple getting together again.
Says Gupta, "I'd love to have her back. As I grow older I do feel the need to find my roots again. And Anu is very much part of my roots. I can't say I haven't made mistakes. And she had every right to leave me. But now I've every right to want her back. My footloose days are over."
