The composer of 'Kitne Ajeeb Rishtey' from Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Page 3' feels that he has been stamped as a music director for offbeat movies only.
'After doing the entire trilogy of Madhur Bhandarkar films, I have been stereotyped as a music director for offbeat and serious movies,' Shamir told.
'I have been part of intelligent movies and I enjoy that. But I am a young boy. I also want to do fun movies and give music for the youngsters,' said Shamir who considers himself a disciple of Anandji of the legendary music director duo Kalyanji-Anandji.
Shamir made his debut as a music director with Raveena Tandon's 'Stumped' in 2003 and has 13 films to his credit so far, including 'Rakht', 'Page 3', 'Corporate', 'Traffic Signal', 'Bal Ganesh', 'Superstar' and more recently 'Mr Black Mr White' among others.
Shamir, who has earned praise from Lata and Asha for his compositions like 'Kitne Ajeeb Rishtey', 'Huzoor e ala', 'Lamha Lamha Zindagi Hai', said he was blessed by the almighty to have worked with such singers.
Singers of their class unlike the present ones do not go for a recording straight away, but look for minute details, Shamir said.
Such singers study the actress for whom they are singing and the character they are playing before rendering their voice which makes them so special, said Shamir who has also recorded songs with Manna Dey and Jagjit Singh for Karan Razdan's film 'Umar'. Unfortunately, the film did not do well, so the songs went unnoticed, Shamir added.
About his upcoming films, Shamir said he has given music for the promotional song of 'Mission Istanbul' and composed music for Popcorn Entertainment's 'Loot' and 'Mumbai Chakachak', Sangeet Sivan's 'Click' and Govinda's 'Chaai Garam' and Karan Razdan's 'Mittal Vs Mittal'. All the movies are expected to hit the screen between July and September 2008.
