'Call them special songs, not item numbers'

'Call them special songs, not item numbers'
For playback singer Smita, who released her trilingual album "Smita" last week, a special song sounds more sophisticated than an item number, and if given a chance, she would agree to do it.

"I don't think it is right to call such songs item numbers. I would call them special songs, " she told.

"As long as I get a good special appearance through the song and it is shot well, I don't have a problem in doing them. In fact I think that filmmakers put a lot of effort to make these special songs because they are for promotional purposes, " Smita added.

Smita has been singing for the past nine years and has won a Filmfare award for a Telugu number.

Her latest album has been crooned in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil and it has been choreographed by Bosco-Caesar, whose recent works include "Jab We Met", "Race" and "Partner".

Sajid-Wajid, who have scored the music for "Welcome", "Mujhse Shaadi Karoge" and "Tere Naam", have composed tunes for the album.
