"In fact I was more nervous now than I was earlier. Why only me? Any actor would be nervous with him no matter how many times you work together. He's such an awesome talent."
Abhishek Bachchan came back to Mumbai after a long spell of shooting in Miami of Tarun Mansukhani's Dostana to go straight into resuming Rakeysh Mehra's Dilli 6.
"It's a young and vivacious romantic comedy. I've never done this genre of cinema before. Priyanka, John and I had fun. But we were never allowed to forget that we had work to do.
Though it was fun, we also put in many hours of hard work.We were there for work and that's exactly what we did."
From Miami Abhishek flew with his wife Aishwarya who had joined him in Miami to Cannes.
"Cannes was very engaging. It always is. Last year Aishwarya and I had gone to Cannes for the first time together. This year the whole family was there.
It's always wonderful to catch up with the family. I've been away so much from home it's a relief to try to be with the family in any part of the world. We tried to catch as many films as possible."
And now there's more excitement for Junior Bachchan in Mumbai. After Wyclef Jean in Miami it's Vishal-Shekhar doing a full hiphop album with Abhishek which will also have guest vocals by Pa Bachchan.
Abhishek Bachchan had a ball recording a song with the super-hiphopper Wyclef Jean in Miami.
Says Abhishek, "Aadesh called me one day and requested me to be a part of the song. Aadesh is a close friend and it was wonderful to finally sing with him. Wyclef is a musician I have admired for a long time and have great respect for him. It was a treat to record with the two of them. And loads of fun." Abhishek has recorded a hip-hop song before.
"When I was recording with Vishal-Shekhar for Bluff Master I was equally petrified. I love to sing. But I'm not a singer and I have only done this track as a personal favour to Aadesh."
Abhishek's non-film album with Vishal-Shekhar featuring hip-hop with his dad is taking longer than expected.
Says Abhishek, "The album with Vishal -Shekar has been in the making for the last two years and isn't released. I'd have loved to have premiered it during our World Tour in July. But it's not ready. When it is ready we'll release it."
So is Abhishek turning into an actors-singer like the Big B? "Dad has a great singing voice. Mine is nowhere near his. I don't think I have the ability or talent to do what all he has done."
Reacting to his dad's and Aishwarya's opinion that Ram Gopal Varma's Sarkar Raj belongs more to Abhishek than his dad or wife Abhishek laughs, "I think the film belongs to the audience. I've played the character according to the director's vision. Ramu continues to surprise and shock audiences each time."
Laughing about his walk-on part as a good-luck charm in Ramu's last film Aag Abhishek says. "Going by what happened to it I'd say I wasn't very lucky for it.
I happened to be in the vicinity and I just walked into the Mehbooba o mehbooba song. I'd say Sarkar Raj is a film that challenged me as an actor. To me it was an interesting challenge to see how Ramu takes the story in Sarkar Raj further from Sarkar. It's a very intense. Very tactile.
Ramu knows what he wants me. Every day he thinks of a new way to do a shot.As an actor I'm constantly challenged by his vision. "
