It may sound like a Ram Gopal Verma film but Plan has no connection with Verma, instead it is the directorial debut of Sanjay Gupta`s assistant, Hriday Shetty. He has been assisting Sanjay for many years, working on films such as Aatish and the forthcoming Kaante. The film has a handsome budget of 9 crores (around £1.2 million).
The story is perhaps the highlight of the film, which seems to be genuinely different to what the audience are used to seeing. Four young lads, Bobby (Dino Morea), Jai (Bikram Saluja), Omi (Rohit Roy) and Lucky (Sanjay Suri) come to the bright lights of Mumbai in search of fame and fortune. The four boys have dissimilar personalities, where one is a compulsive gambler, the other is serious, and these opposing qualities come to the fore as the story unravels.
The boys come up with a plan to make mega bucks by kidnapping a wealthy business tycoon and demanding ransom. But as fate would have it, the foursome have kidnapped an underworld don and get more than what they bargained for.
No Sanjay Gupta film is complete without the presence of Sanjay Dutt; after all, what are friends for? The deadly Dutt, for the umpteenth time, is playing the role of the underworld don. One wonders what he has in store for us this time around. The remaining cast include Isha Koppikar and Priyanka Chopra who don`t seem to have much to do in a film that is really about boys and their toys. If all goes according to plan, the film will release early-mid next year.
