So you thought Bipasha is winning all the accolades for her sizzling performance in Jism, think again. The word from Sanjay Leela Bhansali is "Titillation doesn`t always work. Cine-goers expect something new from every movie and therefore a few steamy scenes do sell tickets. But what it does to the actress` credibility in the long run is a different story". The popularity of Bipasha`s body-act in Raaz and more recently in Jism is no guarantee of future success, the filmmaker says.
According to him: "While I do not want to make any personal insinuations, the fact is elegant sensuality is very different from dark erotica and that is one distinction I consciously try to maintain." Having scored the bull`s eye with Ash in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and now Devdas, Bhansali believes it`s his leading lady`s creativity that sets her apart from other actresses. "Aishwarya is so enormously creative that at times she makes you run out of ideas. Whenever she`s emoting, her body language supports those emotions so well that she doesn`t need any extra guidance. This is a rare quality that I sadly find lacking in most new entrants", Bhansali gushes.
No matter how dangerous the curves on display, at least some emphasis on acting is still required, feels Bhansali. "It`s strange that people today plan their debut in Bollywood with little or no experience of acting. Unfortunately it`s difficult filling in the gaps once you have already acted in a few projects", he says.
