Filmmakers Karan Johar, Prem Soni (Main Aur Mrs Khanna) and Imtiaz Ali are going to be the official invitees at the Cannes film festival this year.

It can be recalled that Karan Johar has been visiting Cannes every year but this will be the first time that directors Prem Soni and director Imitiaz Ali will be making their presence felt at Cannes. These filmmakers have been invited to watch films which will be showcased at the festival.

Debutant director Prem Soni who is all set to release his Salman Khan - Kareena Kapoor starrer Main Aur Mrs Khanna tells us that neither his film nor the music of his film will be showcased the film at Cannes this year.

"I have been invited to be part of the festival and get into the groove. I will be watching a lot of films there." he states.

In fact, none of the above mentioned Bollywood directors will be showcasing their films at the festival this year.

Cannes is the most prestigious film festival where Bollywood directors will be walking the red carpet along with Hollywood personalities.

The festival has become an important showcase for European films and Indian films. Additionally, given massive media exposure, the non-public festival is attended by many movie stars and is a popular venue for film producers to launch their new films and attempt to sell their works to the distributors who come from all over the globe.
