THE FILM
After watching Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye, one tends to wonder if spending those two hours in front of telly was actually a 'khwab' [a 'bura' one at that] or reality? One wishes though that it was just a 'khwab', otherwise how could one explain so many of them (in no particular order)?
Khwab #1 - Raima Sen, in all her seriousness, builds an imaginary man (Randeep Hooda) around her and starts loving him. Not just that; he is no illusion whatsoever as she very much realizes that it is her figment of her imagination.
'Tum To Aakhir Sirf Ek Khwab Ho' - she says in all earnest! And to think of it, we crucified Preity Zinta just a few weeks back for imagining a 'kaala naag' to be her duplicate husband in Videsh - Heaven On Earth!
Khwab # 2 - 19 - All 18 avtars of Randeep Hooda. Actually, honestly speaking, I stopped counting them after first having a dekko at Version 1, 2, 3 and 4 because not a single version stayed on long enough to actually make an impact.
Ranging from mere 30 seconds to perhaps 3 minutes, it all seemed gimmickry than some genuine fun even as Randeep tried to give his all to make his part believable in an utterly unbelievable film.
Khwab #20 - Director sahab (or shall we say 'sahiba')? Did the movie really have an individual assigned for this role? Oh ok, the name on the credits is Madhureeta Anand! Oops, yet another 'khwab' as she certainly appears to have left the movie to be directed by on its own.
Khwab # 21 - Celebrity judges Javed Akhtar, Alka Yagnik and Lalit Pandit. Each of them seems to be faking it (their feedback for the participants, silly), in as unconvincing a manner as they appear to do in one of those many reality shows on television.
Khwab # 22 - Serious moments becoming unintentionally funny. Days after realizing that her husband is having an affair right in front of her (and not even behind her back), she keeps quiet only to whisper in his ear - 'Mujhe Pata Hai Tumhaara Kisi Ke Saath Chakkar Chal Raha Hai'.
Hello, wasn't this supposed to be a dramatic moment? But the way it is delivered is akin to a Saajan Chale Sasural moment with one of the wives winking and expressing her suspicion to Govinda!
Khwab # 23 - The man in the crowd. He is someone who is there to attend the grand concert (comprising of 15 odd jumping jacks who try to convince audience that there are 15000 of them) in the grand finale of the movie. Who is he?
Oh haan! Arrey yes. He is Murli Sharma, the second lead villain of Main Hoon Naa [who played an associate of Sunil Shetty]. Ye yahan kya kar raha hai? Kya yeh khwab hai? What he is going to do to the film's plot?
Well, 'jaane tu ya jaane naa'!
