Today tabloids reported, and claimed Madhur Bhandarkar's Jail to be a rip-off of a Brazilian film Carandiru, which is supposedly based on the true life experiences of Dr. Drauzio Varella inside Sao Paulo prison of Brazil.

The film had one of the goriest climaxes with which brought on-screen; the real life massacre which took place in 1992, that left 111 prisoners dead. Madhur's Jail stars Neil Nitin Mukesh, Manoj Bajpai and Mugdha Godse in the lead.

But when we contacted Madhur, he was quick to deny that his film has anything to do with the unknown Brazilian film. He claimed, "I have a made an original film.

Why are they already claiming such things even before seeing a single frame of my film? This is ridiculous. All the films that I have made right from Chandni Bar to Fashion have been part fiction and part reality based.

Jail is like that as well, and an original concept. It narrates the tale of Parag Dixit played by Neil Nitin Mukesh and his experiences in jail. It also, at the same time narrates the tale of other jail inmates."
