Rakesh Roshan leaves for the US shortly to formalise the international deal for Kites and accordingly fix the date for the film's release.
Though there has been talk that the movie will release in January 2010, the fact is that the producer has been biding time as he's keen to have the Hindi and English release on the same date.
Says a source, "His trip to Los Angeles is primarily to finalise the deal with Warner Bros. He is hoping that it comes through. Once this is done, the date for the English release overseas will be fixed. Accordingly, the Hindi release will be finalised here."
Directed by Anurag Basu, the film was shot simultaneously for both versions.
Adds the source, "It is a mega project for them which will also mark Hrithik's entry into the international market so the Roshans are being extremely sure of everything." Kites was initially slated to release during Diwali. Later there was buzz that it would be December, then January 2010.
"But the fact is that the Roshans don't mind waiting so that the international release coincides with the Hindi release. They are planning a lavish release all over the globe, " maintains the source.
Roshan however maintains, "I have not finalised anything as yet."
