The original angry young man of the yore is back. Though not so young and definitely mellowed alot he is not Inspector Vijay anymore, he is DCP Anant Srivastav.
But does that really matter? I guess not. After all Bachchan is not just any other cop, he is Mr Cop. In fact he is so right when he plays one that you can set your watch by him.
Save your thanks for Raj Kumar Santoshi who decided to come up with a cop movie when everyone thought it couldn't get any better.
Bachchan isn't alone this time when he confronts his unknown enemy. He is backed by his legion consisting Sr. Inspector Shekhar Sachdev (Akshay Kumar) and Sub-Inspector Ashwin Gupte (Tusshar Kapoor).
Their mission: Shifting an ISI terrorist Iqbal Ansari (Atul Kulkarni) from Chandanghad to Mumbai.
Srivastav is a loser by his own standards. At least, till he gets a make-or-break assignment the day his daughter is to marry.
Shekhar is rotten to the core and reluctant to join this suicidal mission. Ashwin is a rookie just out of a Police academy. There is one more Inspector Angere Ajay Devgan, the mystery man in the pack.
Together they embark the journey where a nameless, faceless enemy awaits them. Will Anant be able to triumph in his efforts?
Sridhar Raghavan pens an engrossing screenplay with myriad twists and turns which keeps you on your toes. Cinematography by K.V. Anand and action sequences by Tinu Verma are breathtaking.
The Director Raj Kumar Santoshi spins his tale in three long hours and doesn't give you too many loose moments. Music of the film is much of a dampner but the powerpacked performances by Akshay, Ajay and Tusshar make up for the loss.
Given the male oriented plot, Aishwarya delivers yet another ace with her short but winning role.
And now for the Bachchan. All I can say is he acts like a God in 'Khakee'. Go out and watch the sexagenarian in action yourself. It's a feast!!
