It was not a cakewalk for T-series head honcho Bhushan Kumar to get remixes included in the "Kites" album. He had a tough time convincing producer Rakesh Roshan, who finally agreed to have three remixes in his forthcoming film to good results.

Rakesh Roshan has so far never included remixes in the album of his movies. But this time his production venture "Kites", starring son Hrithik along with Mexican actress Barbara Mori, has remixes of three songs - "Dil kyun yeh mera", "Tum bhi ho wahi" and "Zindagi do pal ki". The music has been composed by brother Rajesh Roshan.

"Somehow I convinced Rakesh Roshan and Hrithik for the remixes. It was definitely hard to convince them, but I gave them reasons to justify what I was saying. Hrithik understood my concerns because he himself visits clubs and pubs and he knows what kind of music is played. I managed to change their opinion, " Kumar told IANS.

Kumar, whose company T-series is the music label behind the film, revealed why composers and producers usually shy away from remixes.

"Normally, most film producers and composers don't like remixes because they work so hard on songs that they don't feel like putting in an extra beat or changing it a little bit, " he said.

"They don't understand that when you don't do remixes of your songs, some DJs or others will remix it on his own and use it in clubs or functions and sometimes even put it on the web.

"Most of the time the quality of these remixes is very bad. So it is always better that the company remixes it on its own so that a good product is sent across to people, " he added.

Kumar says the remixes in "Kites" have helped him earn extra revenue.

"The music released close to 10 days back and the sales have been quite encouraging. The remixes are also giving us extra revenue because a lot of people are downloading the remixes and the ringtones of remixes instead of the originals, " said Kumar, son of Gulshan Kumar, founder of the T-Series music label.

The film has been directed by Anurag Basu and will be distributed by Reliance BIG Pictures. The music was released differently - across radio channels and then later on TV channels instead of holding a regular launch event.

Asked the reason for this step, Kumar replied: "We always try and do something different with the music release of our big films. 'Kites' is an unusual and big film; so we decided to think out of the box."

"We are also planning something special for 'Ra.One', which is a big film too, " he added.

"Kites", a film about an Indian man's affair with a Latin woman and their predicament as they don't understand each other's language, also stars Kangana Ranaut. It will release May 21 in over 60 countries.
